I was struggling with motion sickness and focus issues, particularly with reading, when I discovered Vision Therapy through Suburban Eye Care. I have successfully overcome these symptoms after completing their VT program. I highly recommended giving it a try. To top it off, their staff is so kind and knowledgeable. They really care about their patients. A great experience!

When I heard of vision therapy, my first thought a Like many others is, my child needs glasses. Nope! We needed to strengthen his eye muscles and help my child to recognize what his eyes were doing while he was reading. Amanda at Suburban Eye Care is the best! She is patient, understanding, and is always willing to go above and beyond to help her patients. We came to Suburban Eye Care every week for 6 months and the whole staff was amazing each time. If your child is struggling with reading, it doesn’t hurt to have their eyes checked.

Hey everyone! Vision therapy changed my life. I have esotropia (my eye turns inward) and it was really bad. My eyes did not work together. Since my eye turned inward, my brain was suppressing images, and I was only ‘seeing’ things one eye; processing information and such with one eye, even though I could visually see with both. My eyes were not functioning together. For the first thirty-ish years of my life, I was walking around (quite clumsily!) without depth perception, and I didn’t even know it! No wonder I was so clumsy and uncoordinated. Parking was a nightmare. I had a difficult time keeping things aligned when writing or taking notes (e.g., numbers, graphing, etc). I didn’t see the world in the way I was ‘supposed’ to — until I met the wonderful folks at Suburban Eye Care. Amanda Franklin, and her team of amazing and dedicated vision therapists, are such a wonderful group of people. I had numerous surgeries on my eye to ‘correct’ the turn. What I wasn’t told was the surgery was only cosmetic. It would not correct the neural pathways, nor would it stop my brain from suppressing functional vision in my eye. Vision therapy has made a tremendous change in my life. I am more confident. I am not nearly as clumsy as I once was. I have more spatial awareness and peripheral vision. I can park like a champ now; even backing into spaces now is a breeze, something with which I really struggled and would actively avoid doing. I can see in 3D. I can see the world the way I am ‘meant’ to. I won’t lie: it is a lot of work. It takes time, patience, and dedication. The results are so worth the difficult journey. My eye turn now is so tiny that you would never know I have one unless I told you. Dr. Smith is a powerhouse. She is so kind and patient. I felt welcomed from my very first day and felt listened to. I was treated with respect. My concerns were taken into account. I was never invalidated. Do not sleep on vision therapy. If you, your child, or a loved one has vision problems and are told vision therapy can help — DO IT. I promise it is worth it. I would do it all over again. I cannot recommend this place enough. Truly some of the best, most genuine people with whom I have ever had the pleasure of working. P.S. You get some cool treats when you graduate! 😀
